Backoffice eats margin. Withholding tax eats nerves.
Staff leasing means: many employees, many sites, many cantons — and a payroll backoffice that grows with every contractor. payrollnow handles the operational payroll case-driven: hours in, pay out, withholding tax in all 26 cantons automatically.
Case-driven. Scalable. Withholding-tax-ready.
You file the assignment, hours, mutation. The system does the rest — cantonally correct, GAV-PV-compliant, without more specialist staff.
Nine pain points. One platform.
What costs time in day-to-day operations and blocks scaling — grouped in three areas where we tackle it directly.
High personnel costs
Payroll processing needs specialists with industry know-how. Every new layer of complexity (more user businesses, more cantons, more occupational categories) means more heads in HR.
Error-prone — not case-driven
Excel-based workflows, manual handoffs between dispatching, HR and accounting. Every step is a source of errors, every audit a stress test.
Scalability not given
Anyone billing twice as many contractors needs (almost) twice as many HR people. Growth costs — instead of scaling.
No digital onboarding
Contracts, personnel questionnaires, tax forms, bank details — today collected on paper or by email. With hundreds of assignments a year, a full-time job.
Hours reporting
Timesheet photos, Excel export from the user business, manual data entry. Resolving discrepancies costs time and money.
Self-service mutations & documents
Address change, bank details, marital status, wage-statement request, sickness notification — everything lands as email in HR. Without a system, no record, no audit trail.
Missing integration to surrounding systems
Financial accounting, ATS (applicant tracking), CRM, performance reporting — every system has its own logic, every data transfer manual.
GAV-PV compliance & equal pay
Minimum wages by occupational category and assignment industry, on-call flat rates, BVG thresholds, equal-pay comparison with the user business — one CBA update per year, lots of trip wires.
Multi-assignment payroll
An employee in May at A, B and C — different accident-insurance classes, different hourly rates, one pay slip at month end, one wage statement at year end.
26 cantons. Hundreds of rates. One click.
Staff leasing brings an above-average share of withholding-tax payers. Changing permit types, cross-border mix, relocations and NOV thresholds — every payroll run needs clean master data and a system that knows the right rate logic. Without a system, someone calculates it manually every month. With an error rate.
- Rate A/B/C/D/F cantonally classified automatically, incl. special rates for weekly/daily wages
- Cross-border logic CH/DE/FR/IT/AT/LI with the respective DTA special rules
- Mid-month rate switch on residence change or multi-canton assignments
- Monthly withholding filing to all 26 tax authorities via Swissdec ELM 5.1
- Rate updates cantonally monthly, automatically loaded in the system
What we actually take over.
The most important staffing-specific pain points with our answer to each one. Straight from day-to-day operations.
From deal to payout — fully automated.
You report events, the system creates the tasks and runs the payroll. From the salary calculator on first contact to a live profitability view of every assignment — end-to-end in one platform, no Excel handoffs, no second piece of software.

What the app can do today.
Temporary workers work mobile-first. The app is not nice-to-have, it's the prerequisite for HR not becoming an email reception desk.
Digital onboarding
Personnel questionnaire, bank details, contracts — filled in and signed directly in the app.
Hours reporting
Log hours from the site, the user business approves directly.
Wage statement & documents
Pay slips, wage statement, employment contracts — available as PDF any time.
Self-service mutations
Address, bank, marital status, sickness notification — maintained directly by the employee.
Connected to the systems you already use.
We deliver the payroll, you keep your ERP, ATS, CRM and accounting landscape. API-first, webhooks, ISO 20022 — data transfer without media breaks.
Financial accounting
Accounting entries straight into your books — per entity, per cost centre, per project.

Residence data out of date, permit type misclassified, cross-border DTA wrongly assigned, NOV thresholds missed — where withholding tax goes wrong in staff leasing, based on FTA Circular No. 45.
Read articleFrom staff leasing. Answered concretely.
What we hear most often from staffing agencies and temp agencies — around withholding tax, GAV-PV, weekly pay and multi-assignment payroll.
Per FTA Circular No. 45, the withholding-tax rate for employees with tax residence in Switzerland follows the canton of residence — not the place of assignment. For cross-border workers and weekly residents the double-taxation-treaty-specific rates or the employer's seat apply. We maintain residence, permit type and family data centrally, handle registration with the correct canton and rate corrections at NOV thresholds or rate-correction requests.
We know the double-taxation treaties (DTA) of every neighbouring state and apply the relevant special rates (e.g. 4.5% for German cross-border workers) automatically. Plus cross-border permit and residence category as mandatory fields in the master record.
Our onboarding tool migrates master data from the legacy system in under 24 hours. 12 months of backtesting validate historical payroll data, parallel runs secure data consistency for the current year. Operationally, the account manager guides the entire switch.
Yes. We take over payroll processing only. Your dispatching, recruiting, sales and CRM processes stay in the existing systems. The payroll-relevant data (assignments, hours, master data) we deliver back via webhooks and REST API openly to you.
Weekly payroll runs 4× per month are standard, no surcharge. Hours are imported weekly from the source systems, pay calculated, banking file generated, OASI/pension/withholding-tax filings sent automatically.
Our CBA engine knows the annual updates of the staff-leasing CBA (minimum wages per occupational field, BVG thresholds, holiday supplement, sick-day benefits 80% up to 720 days) and the dynamic user-business rate (LMV in construction, L-GAV in hospitality, etc.). Checked against every payroll calculation.
Scaling instead of backoffice. Let's talk.
In 30 minutes we'll show you what a payroll setup looks like that scales with the business — based on your current setup.
